SLIIT joins hands with ACL Cables PLC

ACL Cables PLC, the number one cable company in Sri Lanka recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Engineering Faculty of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), offering the company’s expertise in product engineering to one of the country’s fastest growing universities.  The MOU was signed on August 27, 2015, by ACL Cables Managing Director Suren Madanayake and SLIIT President/ CEO Professor Lalith Gamage.

 

It is noteworthy that this MOU between SLIIT and ACL Cables will facilitate strategic partnership opportunities for both ACL Cables and SLIIT. ACL Cables will also provide exposure to its production facilities for SLIIT engineering faculty students. At the same time, it is foreseen that this partnership will also strengthen the capabilities of both ACL Cables and SLIIT, enabling them to progress even further in their individual corporate and academic pursuits.

 

Additionally, ACL Cables will be offering SLIIT its advice and counsel with regards to the latest industry innovations and updates, thus improving the facilities provided by SLIIT in Research and Development (R&D) activities for the students. Interestingly, both ACL Cables and SLIIT will also cooperate in major R&D projects, facilitating the raising of standards of student productivity and knowledge.

 

Meanwhile, to help the industry at large, ACL Cables will also join with SLIIT to introduce a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) initiative to provide regular guidance and experience sharing sessions for engineering students to help develop their careers as future engineers.

 

“This new partnership will allow SLIIT to benefit from ACL Cables’ experience conceptualizing practical applications out of academic research activities, with respect to the university’s engineering faculty. For students, this MOU allows for opportunities to enhance their knowledge in areas pertaining to future career prospects, so that they will be familiar with even more aspects of the product life cycle prior to finally entering the world of work,” said SLIIT President/ CEO Professor Lalith Gamage.

 

“The new partnership between SLIIT and ACL Cables will enable the company to participate in interactive knowledge sharing sessions with every batch of students in the engineering faculty, using state-of-the-art interactive and collaborative platforms to impart its expertise encompassing a multi-dimensional perspective. ACL Cables will also contribute to the development of SLIIT students in a meaningful way, facilitating a standard of global professionalism in a local context.” said ACL Cables Managing Director Suren Madanayake.
